THE REVIEW: **The author has reached out and had requested me to do a honest book review. Thank you very much Ms. Gibbs for providing me an electronic copy! This is a non-spoiler review.** Do believe in angels and demons? How will you react if one of your friends is an angel sent to save you? This is a story of a girl named Ariel, who has been through a lot. She does not want attention and rarely have friends. Not until three new students arrived and since then, they had turn her world upside down. I have always been fascinated with stories about angels or any other Celestial beings interacting with humans. I even remember owning two sets of series - both about falling angels, falling in love with a human teenage girl(s). I was super excited when I start reading chapter 1, but as I continue, I got confused with the story. It was not clear about Ariel's background story. It did not explain where she lives and her current situation. The story had already jumped into where she met her 3 schoolmates/classmates who just transferred somewhere. There are little interaction which at first I found it mysterious (which I like). But as I reached the climax of the story, I kept on searching about these 3 new students. The meeting with Ariel is brief and again, the author had quickly jumped into the action scene. Towards the conclusion, the story became interesting. I was a bit disappointed because I felt that it was all rushed. There are so much that had yet to happen and as a reader, I was left hanging. I like the story but it needs more work. I mean there is a potential since it has been years since readers encounter this kind of novel. RATING: 3.75 out of 5 stars
My (small) issue is that it is only 170+ pages. I have not encounter a 1st book in a series that is so short. The story is interesting, again it only needs more work. I'm already invested to Rafe so yes, I'm looking forward to the next book.
